Sussex Teachers are working with a large primary school in Portslade to find an after-school supervisor to start with them in September. The school require an experienced play worker to join them Monday to Friday from the 3rd of September until the October half term.

This vibrant and caring school are located on the outskirts of Brighton and Hove. The primary school prides itself on its caring and inclusive community atmosphere and dedicated and hardworking staff. This temporary vacancy has become available because the school are switching to a new outsourced company from October half term, however would like to put in temporary facilities for term 1 to support their working parents with childcare. The school is easily accessed via public transport, with regular bus routes and a short walk from Portslade train station.

You will be working daily from Monday – Friday from 2.45 until 6.15, allowing you 15 minutes to prepare and close each session. It will be your responsibility to ensure that from 3pm – 6pm the children in your care are safe and happy. Working as part of a team, you will plan and provide activities that are fun and engaging. You will support and participate in children’s games/arts and craft and home work. Children are picked up at either 4.30pm or 6pm and it will be your responsibility to ensure children are paired with the correct adults and feedback about how their time with you has been.

To be suitable for this position you will ideally have had recent experience working as an after-school club supervisor, but we are still happy to hear from candidates with experience as Teaching Assistants or Childminders. You must be available every day, Monday – Friday from Tuesday the 3rd of September until Friday the 19th of October. You should ideally hold a current “up-to-date” DBS certificate that is on the Update Service or happy for arrange Sussex Teachers to arrange this for your immediately.

You will be paid a competitive hourly rate and once registered with Sussex Teachers will have exclusive access to Teaching Assistant, After school club supervisor and Individual Needs Assistant roles at our partnership schools. We work closely with schools across Sussex to find education staff for both temporary and part time roles and will work on your behalf to find roles that suit you and your career. When this assignment is completed you will benefit from working with a specialist education consultant who can assist you in finding future roles.
