Sussex Teachers are working with a large primary school in Burgess Hill to find a specialist Drama and Gymnastics Teacher for September 2019.

You will be working in a happy and positive school where everyone is valued and respected. With a collaborative approach to education the school places emphasis on good relationships between pupils, parents and staff with all being fully involved in the life of the school. Located only a 25-minute car journey from Brighton and a 4-minute walk from the local train station, it’s very easy to access via public transport from Brighton, Haywards Health and Burgess Hill.

You will provide PPA non-contact time for teachers across the school teaching Dance and Gymnastics from Reception to Year 6. You will take responsibility for these subjects and promote dance and gymnastics-based opportunities and events both in school and in the wider community. You will also co-ordinate extra-curricular dance and gym-based activities and run after school dance clubs and classes. Working alongside a specialist music teacher you will co-ordinate and choreograph music and dance performances and events.

We are looking for a dance and gymnastics specialist who holds Qualified Teacher Status, ideally with experience of holding curriculum responsibility for PE or have a bachelor’s degree in a related field. You will be passionate about teaching the performing arts and will be confident in teaching students a variety of dance and gymnastic styles. You will teach lessons according to the national curriculum, educating your students about both the theory behind different dances and the physical moves of each specific style. You will inspire your students and lead by example, using your passion for the performing arts to boost your pupil’s fitness, confidence and social skills.
