Sussex Teachers are working with a primary school near Battle to find a Reception class teacher for a maternity leave contract. This small village primary requires a full-time Early Years specialist to begin from the 8th of March and teach until at least the end of this academic year.

This Church of England Primary is a very popular and over-subscribed rural school. Based near Battle, East Sussex and a 15-minute drive from the coast the school is a mix of modern and Victorian buildings and is an idyllic place to spend your working day. Describing themselves as friendly and hardworking, the school strives to meet the highest standards for their pupils and their staff. As a Nurture Project school, they see both staff and pupil well-being as central to their continued success and pride themselves on their inclusive and supportive school community.

We are looking for a passionate and committed EYFS teacher to join the school from Monday the 8th of March and cover either the full maternity leave (up to 43 weeks) or until the end of this academic year. Due to COVID restrictions the previous class teacher will be working from home for the final 10 weeks of her pregnancy and will be available to support you with an online handover and planning. With only 16 pupils in your class, you will be responsible for assessing your students’ abilities and gaps in their learning that has occurred during remote learning. Working with a full-time and experienced Teaching Assistant who already knows the class, it will be your responsibility to deliver effective teaching, learning and assessment to support the achievement of all pupils.

Please note, to be considered for this position you must have Qualified Teacher Status and experience in teaching Early Years. This is a long-term teaching position, and so you must be able to take on full class teaching responsibility and be happy to plan, prepare and assess your students work as well as attend parent’s evenings and staff meetings. We are looking for a teacher with high aspirations for you and the children you teach, who is passionate, Imaginate and creative in your teaching approach. Please note, although you do not need to be Christian, you should be able to support the ethos of a Church of England school.
