Sussex Teachers are working with an international summer school in Brighton to find qualified English teachers for at least 1 week of TEFL teaching work. We are looking for teachers to start next Monday the 16th of July and work full time until at least Friday the 20th of July, possibly for longer.

Our client is an established international summer school based in Ovingdean, Brighton. You will be teaching in a historic building with very modern facilities, set in beautiful grounds and surrounded by green countryside and sea views. Lesson plans will be provided for you to work from, and they are designed for the learners you will be teaching, both intermediate and upper intermediate aged from 13 – 17 years.

Teaching general English for 30 hours across the week, you will be teaching 2 separate groups for 3 hours a day (6 hours in total). Your day will begin at 8.20 am with a morning meeting with your first lesson beginning afterwards at 8.30am. Your day will then be split into 4 sessions of 1.5 hours, with your lunch break running from 11.45am - 1.15pm and a hot meal supplied to you during your break. You will then resume teaching from 1.15pm until 4.30pm. You will also receive 2 15-minute breaks during your morning and afternoon sessions.  

Classroom based, and you would be teaching up to 8 students of various nationalities. The course is designed to help improve English language skills by focusing on the key areas: speaking, listening, reading and writing. A strong focus is placed on speech and using the language confidently and fluently. Regular tests and conversation classes help to ensure that students improve their English as much as possible.

We are looking for confident communicators, with experience and accredited qualifications in Teaching English as a Foreign Language. You do not need to hold Qualified Teacher Status, but we do require that you are a university graduate with a recognised TEFL qualifications. These can be either a CELTA, Trinity College TESOL, DELTA, or CELTYL and you should possess a Native/near-native competence in English (written and spoken). Due to the immediacy of the role we also require that you hold a current DBS that is signed up to the Update Service.
