Sussex Teachers are working with a large community primary school in Lewes to find a temporary Individual Needs Assistants for Term 6. This thriving and happy school are looking for a committed and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant from June until the end of this academic year.

You will be working in a school where pupils behave well and are highly enthusiastic learners. The school has been described as exceptionally harmonious with staff, governors and leadership committed to empowering every child to be the best that they can be. With panoramic views of the South Downs, the school is beautifully situated in the north of Lewes. Children benefit from having a specialist Language Unit on site, which serves students with statements/EHCP’s for severe speech and language needs (SLCN).

You will be working within a Year 4 classroom, supporting an individual student with additional learning needs. You will ensure that your pupil is engaged in the learning and give positive encouragement, feedback and praise to reinforce and sustain the pupil’s efforts. It will be important to establish a strong, supportive relationships with your pupil, whilst also assisting them in developing their relationships and social skills with their fellow students. You will monitor the pupil’s response to the learning activities and may need to adapt the activities (as agreed with the teacher) to make learning accessible and achieve the appropriate outcomes.

You must have a minimum of 3 months recent experience working in schools and be able to evidence this through Good references. Due to the immediacy of the role you must have a valid DBS and be signed into the Update Service or prepared to apply for a new certificate as soon as possible.

You will be paid a competitive hourly rate and once registered with Sussex Teachers will have exclusive access to TA and INA roles at our partnership schools. We work closely with schools across Sussex to find education staff for both temporary and part time roles and will work on your behalf to find roles that suit you and your career. When this assignment is completed you will benefit from working with a specialist education consultant who can assist you in finding future roles.
