Intervention teacher job

£90 - £120 a day
Community Primary School
Burgess Hill Primary School

Sussex Teachers are working with a primary school in Burgess Hill to find a full time Pupil Premium teacher. This full-time role will begin immediately and will run until at least Christmas, and possibly until the end of the academic year.

This three-form primary school has been cleverly designed to maximise all the benefits of a large school and yet retain a small school atmosphere, with the buildings arranged into seven separate units. Each unit houses five classrooms arranged around a central area which accommodates a computer suite, enabling technology to be used as an integral aspect of learning. The school is located only a 25-minute car journey from Brighton and a 4-minute walk from the local train station. Pupils at the school have good behaviour and manners, are respectful of each other and their teachers. The schools effective headteacher has a clear vision to raise the attainment and standards for all pupils, and parents, staff and children are positive about the improvements taking place throughout the school.

You will be teaching a small class 26 Year 3 pupils in the mornings, with an hour each for English and Maths. Planning will be provided for you to work from, but some tweaking may be necessary to ensure lessons are pitched at the correct levels to challenge your children. During your non-contact time you will have the opportunity to mark and assess your pupils work, tweak plans and arrange resources for future lessons. You will also spend some time supporting the class teachers in other lessons, as well as running short interventions with individual students. In the afternoon you will teach targeted intervention sessions (30 minutes each) with pupil premium students, in small groups between 2 and 4 students.

The successful teacher will hold high standards and expectations and have recent experience teaching in KS2. You will have excellent communication skills and be flexible in your working, taking direction from the main class teacher and ensuring that learning is cohesive and consistent across the day. Plans will be provided for you to work from though you should be happy to amend these where necessary. You will be expected to complete all marking for your sessions and liaise with class teachers to feedback on the progress your children have made.

Although a long-term vacancy this role does not require you to attend parents’ evenings or staff meetings or CPD (you are invited should you wish to attend however). You will be responsible for the attainment of your pupils, but time will be given throughout the day for you to monitor this. This would be an ideal role for a supply teacher who enjoys the security and job satisfaction of long term teaching but doesn’t want to commit to a full class teaching role with the additional paper work and responsibility that this entails.

If you are available immediately and would like to teach courteous and respectful pupils please get in touch with Kim at Sussex Teachers on 01273 626800. If this role isn’t quite right for you but you are interested in joining Sussex Teachers for supply roles, please get in touch today to register with us and receive our job alert updates.
