Sussex Teachers are working with an independent primary school in Haywards Heath to find a lower KS2 Class Teacher to begin as soon as possible. This co-ed prep school are looking for a Year 3 teacher to cover a long term sickness, to join them until at least half term (9th of February) though the role could extend until Easter.

The Headteacher describes his school as happy, kind and purposeful with a strong sense of community and citizenship. This family school were graded as “Excellent” in every area at their most recent ISI inspection, and children and staff are incredibly proud of their school and learning environment. The grounds of the school are situated in over 50 acres of parkland and playing fields, near the village of Handcross and very easily accessible by car from Crawley, Haywards Heath, Brighton and Horsham.

The school require a teacher to take on full teaching responsibility for one of their Year 3 classes, with planning, preparation and assessment a required part of the role. The school has two Year 3 classes, meaning you will have a parallel class teacher to plan and share resources with. Good medium and long-term plans  are in place, you simply need to add to and differentiate for the class weekly. You will benefit from having an experienced class Teaching Assistant with you every morning, and for three afternoons a week your pupils take part in games and outside activities. During one of these afternoons the school require that you teach History for one session. You will also be expected to take one after school club per week, running on a Thursday from 4.20 until 5pm. As it is an independent school the days run slightly longer than usual, with children arriving for school at 8am and finishing the usual school day at 4.20. After school clubs then run from 4.20pm until 5pm when children finish.
