Sussex Teachers are working with a large junior school in Hassocks to find an English specialist for a permanent KS2 teaching job.

We are working with a larger than average junior school in the village of Hassocks West Sussex to find a KS2 Class teacher with responsibility for English (TLR2a). Nestled at the foot of the South Downs National Park, the school is located only a 10-minute walk from Hassocks train station and a short drive from Brighton and Burgess Hill town centres. Pupils at the school are highly motivated, polite and well behaved and thrive within their stimulating learning environment. The school provides a broad and balanced topic-based curriculum which is developing all the time. The school’s contribution to pupils spiritual, moral, social and cultural education is strong, resulting in confident and enthusiastic leaners who love learning and coming to school.

The school are looking to strengthen their senior leadership team and are keen to find a highly skilled teacher who can motivate both children and their teaching team towards better outcomes in English. We are looking for a teacher who can take responsibility for raising attainment in writing across the school, particularly focusing on pupils eligible for pupil premium and those who have SEN and/or disabilities. You will focus on increasing teacher’s expectations and give guidance on their planning, using accurate data and assessment techniques and that builds on pupils prior learning. Pupils already possess good reading skills and it is your job to encourage they apply these skills within their writing.

The successful candidate will have a commitment to achieving high standards both for themselves and the children that they teach. They will to see themselves as part of the bigger picture, working to achieve great learning in the classroom as well as being totally committed to working collaboratively on the school’s development priorities. You will be able to create and deliver excellent learning experiences and be able to demonstrate and develop high quality class room practice.

This is a permanent teaching role for September 2018 and includes a TLR allowance.
