Maths teacher job

M1 - UPS
Co-ed prep school

Sussex Teachers are working with one of the country’s leading prep schools to find a KS3 Maths teacher for the summer and autumn 2019 terms.

The Headteacher describes the school as happy, kind and purposeful with a strong sense of community and citizenship. This family school were graded as “Excellent” in every area at their most recent ISI inspection, and children and staff are incredibly proud of their school. Creativity, thinking skills and instilling a thirst for independent learning are at the heart of the school’s approach. The grounds of the school are situated in over 50 acres of parkland and playing fields, near the village of Handcross and is very easily accessible by car from Crawley, Haywards Heath, Brighton and Horsham.

We require a KS3 teacher to join the school as soon as possible teaching Maths to students in the Upper school (Years 7 and 8). It will be your responsibility to prepare these students for pre-selection tests, Common Entrance, and Scholarship Examinations for their senior schools. Lessons should encourage children to use their imagination, initiative and flexibility of mind whilst stretching students to their full potential using a mixture of resources, collaborative work, open activities and the use of ICT. Your working day will run slightly longer than usual, with children arriving for school at 8am and leaving at 5pm.

You must hold Qualified Teacher Status and ideally hold a Maths specialism. You should have an excellent understanding of the Maths KS3 and 4 curriculums (their top set students are already working at GCSE level) and be able to plan and deliver lessons that maintain pace, motivation and challenge for your students. A willingness to get involved in wider elements of school life, such as games and after school clubs is desirable. Our client is particularly interested in hearing from someone with experience of State or Independent schools.

You will be joining a supportive and happy staff team, with exciting learning environments and children who are keen to learn. The school is proud to be part of the Brighton College Family of Schools which allows teachers the opportunity to collaborate and work with staff within the group. By working through Sussex Teachers, you will be paid a competitive daily rate, and will work with an expert recruiter to find roles that suit your career and lifestyle when this assignment is completed.

If you would like to work in a forward thinking and innovative school, situated in beautiful and historic surroundings please contact us on 01273 626800. We look forward to hearing from you.
