PPA cover job

£90 - £120 a day
Primary Academy
Hastings, East Sussex

Sussex Teachers are working with a primary academy in Hastings to find a part time (0.2) KS2 PPA teacher. This happy and welcoming school require a Y5/6 teacher to join them as soon as possible, covering PPA time for 1 day a week.

This primary Academy is a happy and welcoming school that is continuing to grow from strength to strength. The schools current Headteacher and Associate Headteacher joined in September 2017 and over the past year have transformed the school, bringing about rapid improvement in terms of academic achievement, musical opportunities, sporting success and building developments. With Ofsted recently (May 2018) grading the school as Good (previously Requires Improvement), pupils, parents and staff are overwhelmingly positive about the changes made over the last year.

You will be teaching for one day a week, covering a newly qualified teachers (NQT) release time. The school can be flexible on the day depending on your availability. Planning will be provided for you to work from, but we do require that you complete all marking and leave good quality feedback for the returning Class teacher. Using the International Primary Curriculum (IPC), you will teach through the Power of Reading and use Collings “Busy Ants” scheme as a fulcrum for progression in maths. You will be teaching students who listen carefully to their teachers and each other, who work hard and take pride in their work.

The successful teacher will hold high standards and expectations and have recent experience teaching in KS2 ideally in Years 5 or 6. You will have excellent communication skills and be flexible in your working, taking direction from the main class teacher and ensuring that learning is cohesive and consistent across the week. No planning is necessary for this role; however, we do require that you complete the marking at the end of the day and leave feedback notes on the progress you class have made.

The school can be flexible on the day that you work, though the day you choose will need to be the same day throughout the year. Although a long-term vacancy this role does not require any responsibility for planning or preparing lessons as these will provided to you at the start of each day. We do ask that you mark the work that you have taught and provide feedback notes for the class teacher at the end of the day. This would be an ideal role for a supply teacher who enjoys the security and job satisfaction of long term teaching but doesn’t want to commit to a full class teaching role with the additional paper work and responsibility that this entails.

If you would like to teach polite, enthusiastic and hardworking learners and are available immediately please get in touch with Kim at Sussex Teachers on 01273 626800. If this role isn’t quite right for you but you are interested in joining Sussex Teachers for supply roles, please get in touch today to register with us and receive our job alert updates.
