SEN teacher job

M1 - UPS
Non-maintained SEN school
Burgess Hill

Sussex Teachers are working with a specialist SEN school to find an experienced KS3 teacher for an immediate start in Burgess Hill.

The school caters to young people that have speech, language and communication difficulties and associated complex needs. You will be working in the school’s residential home, teaching 2 pupils with SEN and behaviour difficulties. You will be teaching these key stage 3 students Monday – Friday, for five hours a day. This role is to begin immediately and could continue for the next 4 weeks (this will be confirmed on a week by week basis).

It will be your responsibility to plan and prepare work to teach, though you will be supported by the main school site and will have access to their online resources and planning. Although you will be the sole adult in the classroom, you will be supported by the residential support workers who will be on site in case of any problems. It is important that you recognise students emotional and behavioural needs whilst supporting each student’s individual education plan.

We are looking for a qualified teacher with experience in teaching students with special needs. You should be confident in creating personalised lesson plans and teaching pupils who have barriers to learning. With only three pupils to teach you have the opportunity to make a significant and positive change to a young person’s life and attitudes towards education. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a specialist and supportive environment where you can make a real difference to a child’s education.
