Teaching assistant job

Teaching Assistants
2 form entry primary school
Burgess Hill

Sussex Teachers are working with a primary school in Burgess Hill to find a temporary KS2 teaching assistant. This full-time role will begin immediately and will run for at least the next two weeks, though could possibly extend until Christmas.

This three-form primary school has been cleverly designed to maximise all the benefits of a large school and yet retain a small school atmosphere, with the buildings arranged into seven separate units. The school is located only a 25-minute car journey from Brighton and a 4-minute walk from the local train station. Pupils at the school have good behaviour and manners, are respectful of each other and their teachers.

You will be working in the Year ¾ unit which consists of four classrooms housed around a shared multi-purpose learning area. You will work across the four classrooms, assisting the class teachers and supporting pupils with their learning. It is important to establish a strong, supportive relationships with your pupils, whilst also assisting them in developing their relationships and social skills with their fellow students. You will monitor your pupil’s response to the learning activities and may need to adapt the activities (as agreed with the teacher) to make learning accessible and achieve the appropriate outcomes.

The successful Teaching Assistant will have recent experience supporting the learning of children, ideally within a school environment. You must have a minimum of 3 months referenceable experience (this can be through voluntary work). You should be available Monday – Friday, to begin work at 8.30am and finish at 3.30pm, and you will receive two breaks during the day totalling 45 minutes.

You will be paid a competitive hourly rate and once registered with Sussex Teachers will have exclusive access to TA and INA roles at our partnership schools. We work closely with schools across Sussex to find education staff for both temporary and part time roles and will work on your behalf to find roles that suit you and your career. When this assignment is completed you will benefit from working with a specialist education consultant who can assist you in finding future roles.

If you are available immediately and would like to teach courteous and respectful pupils please get in touch with Kim at Sussex Teachers on 01273 626800. If this role isn’t quite right for you but you are interested in joining Sussex Teachers for supply roles, please get in touch today to register with us and receive our job alert updates.
