Sussex Teachers are working with a two-form entry, C of E primary school near Lewes to find a Year 2 Class Teacher for the summer term. This positive and friendly Church school are looking for a KS1 teacher to cover from April due to a secondment within their senior leadership team.

Your new class are exceptionally well behaved with high levels of engagement and have been described as a pleasure to teach. The school’s ethos is that of “one big family” and you will be supported by an experienced and approachable parallel class teacher, as well as a well-respected and welcoming senior leadership team. Good long-term planning and resources are already in place for the summer terms, and it will be your responsibility to maintain the excellent progress the children have already made this year by their current class teacher.

You will be happy to take on full class teaching responsibility and must have high expectations of all children in all areas of learning. In return you will receive PPA time and work closely with your parallel class teacher to plan lessons that are stimulating and engaging. The school are looking for a committed teacher, able to take on all teaching responsibilities with planning, preparation and assessments, parents evenings and staff meetings. The school would love you to become part of the wider school community and forge good relationships with parents, carers, pupils and staff. It is important for this role that you must have recent experience teaching in Year 2, particulary supporting children in the lead up to thier first SATs. 

You will be joining a school with a stimulating curriculum where pupils enjoy learning and are respectful to staff and fellow pupils. Parents attach great value to education and describe the staff team as “amazing.” Located just outside of Brighton, the school is an easy car ride from Brighton city centre and is a 20-minute walk from Lewes train station. This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who would like the security and job satisfaction of long term teaching but isn’t able to commit to a permanent role.
