Sussex Teachers are working with a primary school in Burgess Hill to find a Year 2 teacher for the summer term. This full-time role will begin as soon as schools reopen and run until the end of this academic year.

You will be joining a three-form primary school that has been cleverly designed to maximise all the benefits of a large school and yet retain a small school atmosphere. Located only a 25-minute car journey from Brighton and a 4-minute walk from the local train station it is easily reached from Brighton, Hassocks and Haywards Heath. Pupils at the school have good behaviour and manners, are respectful of each other and their teachers. The schools effective headteacher has a clear vision to raise the attainment and standards for all pupils, and parents, staff and children are positive about the improvements taking place throughout the school.

This is a class teaching position, meaning you will be responsible for the learning and achievement of all pupils in your Year 2 class. You will receive half a day of non-contact/PPA time per week where you will have the opportunity to work alongside 2 other parallel class teachers to plan and prepare engaging lessons. Depending on when school returns, you may also be responsible for writing end of year reports and attending parents’ evenings.

We are looking for a KS1 teacher with recent experience in the classroom, who holds high standards and expectations for your pupils. You must hold Qualified Teacher Status, with both experienced and Newly Qualified Teachers welcome to apply for this position. You must be available to begin immediately after the Easter holidays although we do require you to be flexible in your start date as we are unsure as to when schools will reopen.

You will be paid a higher daily rate to reflect your additional responsibility and be invited to apply for the permanent vacancy that is due to be advertised for September 2020.
