We are working with a village primary school in Lewes to find a Year 5/6 teacher for September 2018. Due to a secondment the school are looking for an experienced KS2 teacher for the autumn term, possibly longer.

This very small village primary school is committed to providing a nurturing and inclusive environment. With only 4 classes, there is a warm community feel and staff members know every child and their families well. Situated just outside of Lewes, the school benefits from beautiful and extensive grounds where children enjoy a range of outdoor learning activities. With a wildlife pond, story circle, willow shelters and ‘outside classroom’ all of which provide an invaluable extra resource to enrich the both the play and learning of their children. Although rurally located the school is only a minutes’ walk from the train station and is an easy commute from Brighton, Lewes, Eastbourne and Haywards Heath.

The school require an experienced KS2 teacher able to teach their Year 5/6 classes until Christmas. Due to a secondment of a senior leader, this may continue into January and possibly for the full academic year. The school are interested to hear from teachers who achieve consistently good academic standards through creative teaching and learning. Historically Year 6 pupils have achieved good results and it will be your responsibility to maintain the high standard of teaching and learning and ensure their students leave well prepared for secondary school.

Recent experience teaching upper KS2 is critical, with the school particularly interested in hearing from teachers with experience of teaching mixed year groups. This is a full-time class teaching position; therefore, you will be responsible for the learning and achievement of your pupils. As you will hold class teaching responsibility, you should be happy to plan, prepare and assess your pupils learning. In addition, you should be happy to take part in wider school activities as well as attend staff meetings and parents evenings. You will be “paid to scale” during this assignment to reflect your additional responsibilities, with holiday pay rolled into this rate.
