PPA cover teacher job

£100 - £120 a day
Large community primary school
Burgess Hill, West Sussex

Sussex Teachers are working with a large primary school in Burgess Hill to find a primary teacher to cover PPA non-contact time for 3 days a week. Teaching mainly Dance and Gymnastics (with some English and Maths) on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays, this is a maternity cover contract to begin as soon as possible.

You will be working in a happy and positive school where everyone is valued and respected. With a collaborative approach to education the school places emphasis on good relationships between pupils, parents, and staff with all being fully involved in the life of the school. Located only a 25-minute car journey from Brighton and a 4-minute walk from the local train station, it’s very easy to access via public transport from Brighton, Haywards Health and Burgess Hill.

You will provide PPA non-contact time for teachers across the school teaching Dance and Gymnastics from Reception to Year 6. In line with current COVID guidelines their current teacher will leave the classroom at 28 weeks, but will continue to work from home, providing you with a virtual handover and daily planning for you to teach from. You will promote dance and gymnastics-based opportunities and events both in school and in the wider community. Working alongside a specialist music teacher you will co-ordinate and choreograph music and dance performances and events.

We are looking for a dance and gymnastics specialist who holds Qualified Teacher Status, ideally you will have held curriculum responsibility for PE or have a bachelor’s degree in a related field. The school are also open to hearing from teachers who have extracurricular PE subjects or have taught children’s Yoga; as long as you are confident in teaching students about their body movement and are passionate about sharing their love of the performing arts. Teaching from lesson plans provided, you will educate your students about both the theory behind different dances and the physical moves of each specific style. You will inspire your students and lead by example, using your passion for the performing arts to boost your pupil’s fitness, confidence, and social skills.

Although a long-term vacancy this role does not require you to attend parents’ evenings or staff meetings (you are invited should you wish to attend however). This would be an ideal role for a supply teacher who enjoys the security and job satisfaction of seeing your pupils progress and gain confidence in their abilities but doesn’t want to commit to a full class teaching role and the additional responsibility this entails.
